Club of the Year Award - Senior

The Club of the Year Award shall be awarded annually by SCYA in recognition of the Senior, Regular and Associate club's outstanding display of participation within the activities of Southern California Yachting Association. E. E. Manning Memorial Trophy

This award was always for dinghy racing. The regattas and classes have changed through amendments to the Deed of Gift.

The last amendment was in 1986 (although this copy of the Deed is not signed or dated).

The E. E. manning Series is to be raced annually at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club to be awarded to the winner of the class with the most competitors.

Frank Borzage Midwinter Perpetual Star

A perpetual challenge trophy for yachts of the International Star Class. The series of races with challenging and defending Yacht Clubs would be held during the Midwinters. This was deeded on March 27th, 1931. Each race was to be over 12 NM.

George Brock Perpetual Challenge Trophy

Originally deeded for the Eight Meter Class in Los Angeles Harbor, deeded in 1931.

Amendment March 15, 1960 - Perpetual for ocean racing yachts Class 1 at Summer Championship Regatta.

December 1, 1972 Amendment - One Ton Class at Midwinters.

October 22, 1984 Amendment - PHRF Class Overall of the One Ton Class.

January 4, 1986 Amendment - Deemed PHRF Class First Overall Midwinters

Fifth Amendment unknown date as the second page is missing: Deemed as the "Race for Life" to be sailed under SCYA and San Diego Yacht Club.

Kenneth E. Street Memorial Midwinter Perpetual Trophy

As in interesting note, the origianl deed stated: This trophy is to be presented to the winner with the lowest corrected time in the Pacific Handicap division in SCYA Midwinter Regatta. If there is more than one division for PHRF fleet boats, the lowest time in any division will determine the winner.

"King Harbor" is written on the winners sheet.

Deed of gift says it is to be awarded to the PHRF yacht having the best score for the entire series of SCYA Summer Regatta in the PHRF class that has the third largest number of participants.

Don Lee Perpetual Trophy

Don Lee Trophy

This was originally awarded to California 32s in the Midwinter Regatta.

A letter on SCYA letterhead dated September 20th, 1950 is a request for which class to award this trophy to as the Cal 32s were not racing as a fleet but in the ocean racing class. The classes considered were the award it to the Mercury Class or the 110 Fleet during the Midwinter Regatta.

The list of winners from 1928 to 1971 shshows the class as Ocean Racing Class C.
1972 - 1997 shows IOR Class C

SCYA Commodore's Trophy for Junior Sailors

This is a perpetual challenge trophy for Junior Challenge racing between member clubs. The race for this trophy will be sailed only once a year in the waters of the club defending the trophy. The details of the challenge, etc. is available in the deed. ABYC is mentioned.

PCC Midwinter Regatta Trophy

This was given to encourage the winner of PCC Class , to encourage and promote interest in racing the PCC Class.

Harry Wills Perpetual Trophy

Awarded to the yacht having the best score for the entire series of the races comprising SCYA Summer Regatta in the PHRF Class (known at the time as the Pacific Handicap Racing Fleet)
The class was to have the second largest number of participants.

Always located in a Santa Monica Bay Yacht Club.

This was deeded to SCYA on July 10,1964 by R. A. Basham, President of PHRF
